Conformance

A system that connects to the Velocity Interoperability Network declares the Network standards it implements and the version of each. The Developer Portal records each declaration. The procedure is as follows.

  1. Step 1: Identify the standards implemented

List each standard in the VIN series that the system implements. Every connected system implements VIN-1 Interoperability Baseline and VIN-5 Message Envelope.

  2. Step 2: State the version of each

A declaration names the version of each standard to which the system conforms. All standards are presently at Version 1.0.

  3. Step 3: Send the declaration

The member organisation sends its declaration to the Developer Portal by email, naming the system, the operating organisation and the standards and versions claimed.

  4. Step 4: Receive acknowledgement

The Developer Portal acknowledges the declaration and records it against the system. The record is available to Network authorities on request.

  5. Step 5: Renew after a new version

When a standard is issued at a new version, a system that adopts it sends a fresh declaration. A declaration at an earlier version remains valid until it is replaced.
